Los Angeles, California campus | | Experience | After graduating FIDM in the 1980's, I worked for magazine publications in Southern California as a paste-up artist. In the early 1990's I went to Humboldt State University where I had various jobs to support my education. I designed the entire outdoor advertising segment for CSU Summer Arts festival for the University, for 3 years straight I participated as an artist for Pastels on the Plaza, had various art shows, and some commissioned work for fabric and metal designs. When I moved to Arizona in the mid-1990s, I continued producing artwork for many commissioned jobs. Menu designs, magazine ads, flyers, logo designs and poster designs. Most of my work was produced for Details by Dominici, a PR firm in Scottsdale that handled group events. It was time for me to buckle down and by 2001, I had started my own design business - Kats Graphics. Since then I have worked closely with small and corporate businesses for regular commissioned work. Kats Graphics established in 2001, is freelance design firm offering pre-press services including corporate identity, design, branding, print consultation, custom logos, print ads, vector illustration and specialize in photo retouch, manipulation and photoshop art. | | Indesign | Very Experienced | | Photoshop | Very Experienced | | Illustrator | Very Experienced | | Quark Xpress | Very Experienced | | Other software experience | Extremely experienced with Adobe Photoshop from 5.5 to CS4. I have a full portfolio of photo manipulations using Photoshop. I have created a few vector designs in Adobe illustrator but mainly use it to deconstruct vector images that I purchase from istockphoto. I'm currently learning Quark XPress and InDesign. | | Location | Las Vegas, Nevada USA | | Graphic Design Portfolio Sample 1 | New Years Eve Poster Design for JC Wooloughan Irish Pub at the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort. Due to the slow resort economy, the emphasis was placed on poster locations and pop within the design. I used some istock vector illustrations to achieve this effect as well as other design effects to increase noticability. The design was created using Adobe Illustrator 8.0 and Photoshop CS4. |  | | Graphic Design Portfolio Sample 2 | Valentine Treatments Poster design for Aquae Sulis Spa Las Vegas. A whimsical design was chosen this year with a bit of modern grunge within the illustration. I really had fun designing this poster and the response was fantastic. This poster was also resized to a flyer design for the spa with indepth description of the beauty treatments offered. Created using Adobe Illustrator 8.0 and Photoshop CS4. |  | | Graphic Design Portfolio Sample 3 | Book Cover design for Joan Burge of Office Dynamics. Joan is a public speaker for business administrative assistants and managers. Most of her books in the past have followed the theme of "self-help" style of cover design. This book was to show the stripped down version of her life and she wanted the theme to feel very personal and passionate. I chose black and white and the soft fabric image to depict the title of the book. Her photograph was desaturated and the B&W adjustment in Photoshop CS3 helped to show more contrasts in her portrait. This design was created using Photoshop CS3. |  | | Graphic Design Portfolio Sample 4 | David Burke Las Vegas Gift Card design. David Burke is all about the egg. His passion for the egg, resonates through his business in depictions such as Humpty Dumpty. Purple is a popular base color he uses as well. This design was created in Adobe Photoshop CS3. |  | | Graphic Design Portfolio Sample 5 | BASE Entertainment Las Vegas - Phantom The Las Vegas Spectacular Press Kit. This press kit was designed to serve as a selling tool for group sales gearing towards conventions and out of town visitors. The kit is very simple to navigate with a cascading effect of pages and bold colors. Approved graphics helped tie in the effect on its readers. Extremely informative, I used simple fonts and sizes to enhance information points. Created in Adobe Photoshop CS3. |  | | | Return to list of designers
