Letter Paper Dimensions

Letter paper dimensions are only to be officially found in the USA and Canada, as these are the only two countries which have not officially adopted the ISO standard paper sizes. The most commonly used sizes are known as Letter, Legal, Ledger and Tabloid. (Letter size is also known as "American Quarto" outside the USA). There are numerous other sizes and shapes of page, but these are the most commonly used.

Letter page size

The letter page size is 8.5" x 11" (216mm x 279mm), as shown in the plan below.

Spotlight for Quark and InDesign - Recommendation

Until now, if you've wanted to find or extract a piece of text from an InDesign or Quark document, you've had to do it by hand. Apple's Spotlight is very good at seeking our text within documents, except when it comes to InDesign and Quark XPress. At the end of 2009, Markzware released a new utility called Page Zephyr which enables you to search your Quark InDesign archives for blocks of text, which can then be extracted or uploaded direct to a blog without your needing to purchase either Quark XPress or InDesign.

Cheap Royalty Free Images - Recommendations

There are two photo libraries I use more than any other nowadays, and they are iStock and Dreamstime. They are both user-driven sites, and they offer great opportunities for designers and photographers to make extra cash by submitting photos or illustrations for sale. The contributors gets a percentage of each sale, as well as a slice of income from other photographers referred by them.

The quality of their images is generally very good, and it's rare that I can't find what I need for a very good price.
